Challenge:

Erik Penser Fondkommission offers a wide selection of financial services to both the private and institutional investment community including Equity Brokerage, Equity Research, Asset Management and Structured Products. They were looking at:
- A complement to their existing offering of personal guidance, professional service and qualified research.
- A solution for enhanced trading, pricing and risk management on electronically traded derivatives.
- A solution that offered their institutional customers access to liquidity pools for trading directly on many markets.
- A solution for offering large scale program trading (Care orders).
- A front end solution that offers stability, flexibility and high performance capabilities for their customers.
- A trading system with a large number of connected markets.
- A solution that in the future could be further developed to also include Algorithmic Trading to capture latest market opportunities with proprietary, speed-sensitive trading algorithms.
Solution:

Erik Penser Fondkommission is now using Orc as a core component for its offering within electronic trading and new proprietary trading service. Selected Orc technology includes:
- Orc Trader for cash and derivatives in the Nordic region.
- Orc ExNet for non-member market access as well as receiving broker.
- Erik Penser Fondkommission chose the Orc System in combination with proximity hosting at OMX. This means that the infrastructure is placed at OMX for a secure environment with the lowest possible latency.
Why it worked:

Erik Penser Fondkommission is now live with its DMA and Care Order offering as well as the set-up for proprietary trading. Connected markets include the Nordic ones but also the rest of Europe and US through external brokers. The program trading service that was launched in mid January has been highly appreciated by clients, being able to benefit from the combination of local expertise and state of the art connectivity.
Danske Markets
Challange:

Danske Markets offers financial services to both the private and institutional investment community in the Nordic region. They already used the Orc system in their Derivatives trading department and for Market Making of derivatives and had good experience of the Orc system. They were now looking at:
- A solution that offered their institutional customers access to liquidity pools for trading directly on many markets over Internet.
- A solution that in the future could be further developed to also retail customers that are actively trading on the cash markets.
- A solution that made it possible to match orders from the customer against Danske Markets own orderbook on the condition that certain criteria is matched instead of sending orders directly to the market.
- A stable and scalable solution that could make use of existing infrastructure and also be expanded to other countries.
- A solution that could be integrated to other internal systems in an easy way.
Solution:

Danske Markets is now using Orc as a core component for its offering within electronic trading. Selected Orc technology includes:
- Orc Trader for cash and derivatives in the Nordic region.
- Danske Pro Trader ( Infronts OrcOnline solution combined with Orc )
  for cash trading in Europe and North America.
- Danske Markets has a special built module for the internal matching on certain instruments that is looking at the incoming orderflow from the Danske Pro Trader clients and then sends it to the Orc system.
- The solution has been integrated with the internal bank systems through the Orc Protocol, the development has been made by Danske Markets themselves.
Why it worked:

Danske Markets is now live with its DMA. Connected markets include the Nordic ones but also the rest of Europe and US through external brokers. Extensive testing and a very dedicated project team has made this a success, the number of customers using the solution is constantly growing.
