1 - Brief résumé

I joined the company in August 1996 and since then I’ve had several different positions within the company. I started as product specialist and gave daily support to costumers regarding risk management, trading, OTC pricing, market making, theoretical pricing and exchange connection queries. From September 2000 I was appointed General Manager for Orc Software Australia with overall responsibility for the Australian office. I worked there for about two years and then I got the opportunity to start up Orc’s operation in Hong Kong, so in 2001 I became General Manager for the Hong Kong office. In 2003 I moved back home to Sweden and since then I hold a position as Sales and Account Manager for the Nordic and Western Europe region.

2 – Current position

In my current position I work with finding new business opportunities at our existing clients and also finding new clients. I work quite independently but I interact daily

with our pre sales team and our support staff. The work involves regular interaction with our clients and also networking to get new contacts. My job is very result driven and it is well measurable which is both a challenge and the fun part of the job.

3 – Why do you work at ORC?

Orc Software is a dynamic and fast growing company. During my years here it has provided me with constant challenges, different roles and new opportunities.  I love the responsibilities and the great amount of freedom I have in my work. I also like working with clear goals, with talented people and in a highly competitive IT Business area.

4 – Thoughts about your future at ORC

Orc is constantly changing and I am looking forward to see what the future holds. I am very happy to be part of the Sales organization and my immediate sales team but I will never say no to new and interesting opportunities arising.

1 - Brief résumé

I started with Orc in 2000 in the Sydney office in a functional support role. At that time our only clients in the region were in Australia. Over time my role grew more into Sales and Account Management and we began gaining clients outside of Australia. As our client base grew so did our physical presence in the region and as a result we opened offices in Hong Kong and Japan.

In 2004 I was promoted to General Manager of the Australian office and worked closely with the HK and Japan Office Managers to jointly steer the region. In 2005 the decision was taken to build out the HK office in order to make it the main regional office - at that time I was moved to Hong Kong and from there managed our operations in Australia, South Korea and Japan.

In 2007 a global decision to apply a true regionalized structure was taken. As a result I became President of our Asia Pacific Team.

2 – Current position

My current role sees me responsible for Orc's operations in the region. This sees me overseeing everything from the general administration of the Hong Kong and Sydney offices, to local HR, Sales, Marketing, Client Services, Client relations etc.

The main challenge is the large geographical space the APAC region covers. We have clients located in Hawaii, Sydney, Perth, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan. As a result we deal with the distance and the different cultures and languages that go with this on a day to day basis. We also support a large number of markets across these countries making it necessary to keep in touch with local market requirements and the regulatory issues that impact our dealings in each of them.

3 – Why do you work at ORC?

I enjoy working at Orc for a lot of reasons - the scope of my role and the work is huge. Orc provides the opportunity to learn on an ongoing basis on so many different fronts and gives exposure to a wide range of working opportunities in both the Finance and IT sectors.

4 – Thoughts about your future at ORC

For me, I look forward to seeing the business and team grow in APAC. If we as a team can continue to do that my days will always be interesting.

1 - Brief résumé

I am 30 years old, I have studied applied mathematics with specialization in analytical finance, economics, and business finance. I joined ORC in September 2007, as part of the newly initiated ORC Development Program (ODP).

2 – Current position

In the ODP program we have a lot of trainings and education related to our specialization area. We are also involved in different projects which are part of the ODP program. My current position is within the sales and services organization with the business title Trading Software Analyst.

The position involves working with the functional issues concerning our products, such as mathematical models and order validation for connections between Orc Software’s system and external systems. It involves working closely with our customers on analysis and problem solving, as well as participates in sales and new product development projects.

Working with technology and services in a dynamic industry such as finance requires a great deal of planning and prioritization, and it is very important to review everyday what needs to be done. My day starts with reviewing the status of the cases that I am working with, and get updated with the important events, there can be some urgent matters, which may require an immediate visit to a customer site.

3 – Why do you work at ORC?

I had been working for a few years before pursuing university studies, so when it was time to decide for a career, I knew exactly what I was looking for. Consequently I researched and met with many other companies in the same sector as well as other sectors.

But at the end the value proposition that ORC presented was by far the best overall one in the market.

ODP topped as the best training program, with most enticing growth potential. And very early in the interview process I got a sense and understanding that ORC truly cares about the success and growth of its employees. The company has this far provided the systems and personnel to help streamline my personal career objectives.

Mentorship is a key component for me in my career and ORC has in the ODP engaged many knowledgeable individuals leading the management team, all of whom are ready and willing to help us move up in our careers and concentrate in the area we want to excel.

Our products are on the forefront of technology/industry and the opportunity for learning and growing with the company and new challenges is not only possible but very real.

4 – Thoughts about your future at ORC

ORC’s international growth allows for a greater range of options for my personal career objectives. And company’s desire to promote from within if possible, helps me understand that the company knows how to keep key employees actively involved when growing in business. Therefore I am very confident in myself and in the ability of the company, providing me with challenging opportunities suitable for my personal career objectives. The company is growing rapidly and I am very happy to be part of this growth, as for my future at ORC I see myself partaking in establishing ORC in new markets.

1 - Brief résumé

I am French, of Basque origin, raised in the USA.  I have a degree in Comparative Literature from an American university and got my first full time job as assistant futures broker in Paris, France.  I was a derivatives broker for seven years, from the good old days of open outcry through the transition to screen based trading.  I then decided to switch to the computer side of finance and worked as a product manager for a French ISV for six years, designing advanced trading software.  I joined Orc in February 2007 as senior product manager in the Trading Solutions team.

2 – Current position

Product Management is at the crossroads of all of the other departments at Orc.  We determine product strategy based on executive management objectives and industry trends.  We gather requirements from customers and regional offices, and translate them into actual tasks for engineering.  We then prioritize the tasks for each development cycle according to our product strategy.  We monitor and communicate the progress being made on these tasks to the rest of the organization.  We also work closely with marketing to produce product related marketing collateral.

I can’t say that I really have a typical day… it depends on where we are in the development cycle and what else is going on.  I might be working on product roadmaps, when I could be urgently called on to help qualify and approve a new feature that is required to close a deal.

Perhaps marketing will call for an update on a brochure.  Maybe a client visit or conference call requires product management input.  An engineer could need further details on a feature that he’s working on… You never know what will come up.

What I most like about my role at Orc is being in the thick of things and the diversity of the tasks that befall me.  I never get bored.  I like learning from and working with engineering… I’m a closet geek… well maybe not so closet actually (ask me about my Star Trek collection!)  I also like to teach, and I enjoy talking about financial markets to newcomers at our introductory program.

3 – Why do you work at ORC?

What I like best about Orc as a company is the professionalism and expertise of the entire staff.  I have not yet come across someone I would rather not work with.  I am proud to be part of such a bright, motivated and diverse workforce.

4 – Thoughts about your future at ORC

My future at Orc is quite straightforward… I already have the best job around ;-)… I love product management and along with my team, we will strive to reinforce the excellence of our flagship products and provide direction, structure and innovation to our organization.
